We have an Anastasia Steele among our calves this year too! 

The Chickenman just shakes his head when Mandy-Jo and I decide the names for calves.  We did vampires a couple of years ago-in fact the Mommas of these two calves are named Sookie and Bella.  We let him choose a couple last year-Monte Walsh and Comeback Shane were his choices-not bad.  I’m sure the secretary at the American Brahman Breeder Association chuckles every year when she gets our paperwork on new calves.

We had two new calves yesterday evening!

Brahmans are excellent mothers.  Maternal instinct in Brahman cows is very strong  They are well-known for their mothering abilities. Cows will go to extreme lengths to protect their calves.

We managed to dodge the tornado bullet last night but it was touch and go there for a while.  I kept checking the two heifers we have due to calve but neither did.  Did you know heifers just LOVE to calve in the middle of a storm?  It’s true!
